The Municipality of Gönen has been organizing the Ömer Seyfettin Story Contest for many years by showing an example of omnipotence. The purpose of this story contest is to bring new storytellers and stories to the history of Turkish literature, as well as to keep the memory of Ömer Seyfettin alive. I think I had a small contribution in determining this goal ... We were preparing the announcement text of these competitions, where I have been working for a long time, together with my friends. Over the years, I see that our goal has been achieved to a great extent. Salim Nizam, the winner of the contest we organized in 2006, appears before us today as a story and novel writer. I attribute this to both the fertility of the land of Gönen and the correctness of the path that Ömer Seyfettin opened in the story ... I think that Salim Nizam will continue to advance on this path and enrich our story.
